The fourth session of the Ma‘nī-ye Boland series dedicated to Bīdel studies, titled “Analytical Reading of Bīdel’s Works,” was held at Rumi House in the state of Virginia. The program brought together a number of scholars, cultural figures, university professors, researchers, and enthusiasts of literature and culture, providing an opportunity to examine various dimensions of the works of Mirza Abdul-Qadir Bīdel, as well as approaches to interpreting his thought and language.
During the session, Mohammad Yusuf Simgar Bakhtari presented analyses on the intellectual, literary, and philosophical characteristics of Bīdel’s works, explaining how analytical reading can contribute to a deeper understanding of the multilayered meanings and complex structures found in the writings of this poet and thinker. In part of his presentation, he addressed the philosophical dimensions of Bīdel’s thought and, through examining several foundational concepts in his worldview, elaborated on the relationship between philosophical reflection, mysticism, and literature within Bīdel’s works.
The session also included readings of selected verses by Bīdel, followed by Simgar’s interpretations and explanations of these texts. Through this analysis, he explored the underlying concepts, linguistic subtleties, and intellectual dimensions embedded in the poems. According to him, a comprehensive understanding of Bīdel’s works requires simultaneous attention to their philosophical, mystical, cultural, and literary contexts, without which many layers of meaning remain concealed.
At the end of the program, a question-and-answer session was held, during which participants asked questions and exchanged views on the topics presented.
