The inaugural session of the Bedil Studies lecture series took place at Rumi House in Virginia, bringing together cultural figures, university professors, researchers, and admirers of literature and philosophy from across the DMV region.
The session featured Mohammad Yousuf Simghar Bakhtari, who delivered a keynote lecture titled “The Life and Times of Mirza Abdul Qadir Bedil.” His presentation explored multiple dimensions of Abu al Maʿani Bīdil’s life, including his biography, family origins, the social and cultural environment of his era, and the historical forces that shaped his intellectual worldview.
Adopting a historical and analytical lens, Mr. Bakhtari offered a vivid portrait of Bedil’s intellectual and temporal context, illustrating how the poet’s personal experiences intertwined with the broader cultural and philosophical currents of his time.
