Somaya Ramesh, a Persian Dari poet and writer, has won the International Poetry Award at the 24th round of the “Laudomia Bonanni Literary Prize” in Italy. This prize is considered one of the most prestigious literary awards in Italy and is held annually with the participation of national and international writers and scholars.
In her award acceptance speech, Ms. Ramesh dedicated this honor to the women of Afghanistan, saying: “This honor is the voice of the women who, under the weight of discrimination in Afghanistan, have stood firm and challenged the structures of oppression.”
The short movie “Decision”, co-created by writer and director Shahram Hosseini and cinematographer Arya Kohanavard, won second place at the 9th “Healthy Minds – National Short Film Competition,” affiliated with Turkey’s Green Crescent Society. The festival was held under the slogan “Short Film, Great Purpose,” with the support of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the General Directorate of Cinema.
This year’s theme was “Drug addiction from the perspective of youth,” and more than 25,000 works from across Turkey and various other countries were submitted to the festival’s secretariat. Among this vast number, Decision succeeded in impressing the jury and securing second place.
